As a journalism student at Fourways High School, I am delighted to share highlights from our recent Open Day, where we welcomed parents and prospective students to experience our vibrant school community.
The event was a resounding success, with many parents expressing enthusiasm about the school’s atmosphere and facilities. Visitors were particularly impressed by the strong sense of camaraderie among students and the dedication of our teachers. One parent, Mrs Patel, who once attended the school herself, fondly reminisced about her time at Fourways High. “I had an amazing experience here, and I can’t wait for my child to experience the same,” she shared.
Student-led tours showcased the very best of Fourways High, from our state-of-the-art auditorium to our bustling sports fields. As visitors walked through the corridors, it became clear that this is a school where students are encouraged to grow, learn, and thrive.
One of the highlights of the day was seeing parents engage with our facilities firsthand. Many were particularly impressed by the journalism display, which featured a range of recent articles alongside magazines dating back to the 1900s. This exhibit demonstrated how students, like myself, are able to develop our skills in a practical, real-world environment. “I’m blown away by the resources and opportunities available to students,” said Mr Kumar, a prospective parent. “I wish I had this kind of setup when I was in school!”
As a journalism student, I was especially pleased to see parents engaging with our work. We showcased our latest publications, including the school newspaper and online articles. It was rewarding to hear their feedback and to witness genuine interest in the stories we produce.
