Band has become one of the many activities at our school that gives students a place to express themselves, build confidence, and work together as a team. This year, the band was brought back together by Mr Clayton and Mrs Borrill to perform live for the school’s major production of The Addams Family, and their hard work throughout the year did not go unnoticed.
Preparing live music for a production takes a lot more effort than people realise. Rehearsals started in September last year, with students spending afternoons practicing songs and learning how to perform together as one group. From the very beginning, the band worked hard to make sure the music matched the energy and atmosphere of the production.
Mr Clayton and Mrs Borrill played a huge role in making the band successful this year. Along with organizing rehearsals and helping students improve, both teachers also played the piano during the performances. Their dedication and love for music helped create a positive environment where students felt encouraged to do their best.
Band is not only about learning music or playing an instrument. It also teaches commitment, teamwork, and responsibility. Every member plays an important part, and everyone has to work together for the performance to succeed. Through rehearsals and performances, students learn how important practice and consistency are.
The return of the band also added something special to school life this year. Performing live during the major production made the show feel even more exciting and professional, while also giving students the chance to be involved in something bigger than themselves.
Activities like band are an important part of the school because they allow students to explore their talents and become involved outside of the classroom. Thanks to the effort of Mr Clayton, Mrs Borrill, and every student involved, the band has once again become a valued part of the school community.
