The Class of 2028 have been officially welcomed to the brotherhood! The long-awaited “2010 WorldCup babies’’ completed their orientation programme with a Barn Dance that took place on 26th of January 2024.
Mpumuzo Mhlungu, Grade 8 learner, admitted to being nervous upon arrival. He said: “The orientation on the 15th of January was first time I ever stepped foot at Fourways High. Before the orientation I was feeling both scared and nervous, when I saw some of my friends from primary and how friendly the councillors were, I was relieved.”
However, the first academic day was the real challenge for Mpumuzo. He said: “When I entered the Fourways High gates, I was very scared, again. I felt so many eyes on us grade 8 as we were the newest in the bunch” he also said: “You could spot the grade 8’s easily because of us not being allowed to wear our blazers yet and the paper plates around our necks with our baby pictures on them’’.
‘’When I approached the pavilion and heard the other grades cheering and clapping us in, the fear I had quickly faded away and I could see myself spending the next five years at this school.”
With newfound hope and freedom in their eyes, the class of 2028 is ready to embark on this journey and see what the future holds!
