In the bustling halls of Fourways High, there’s an activity that has shaped the voices and built the confidence of many: public speaking. Through participation in this activity, students have not only developed their confidence and communication skills but also achieved notable achievements throughout the course of Term 2.
Public speaking is run by several dedicated teachers (Mrs Du toit, Mrs Subramoney and Ms van Heerden) who have guided their A and B teams from grade 8 to grade 12.
Throughout the course of Term 2, all the public speaking teams across grades 8 to 12 went through numerous practices in order to prepare themselves for a competition (the CAF Creative Arts Festival) that would happen later in the term.
The competition allowed all public speaking students to perform a speech that they had been preparing for weeks prior to the competition. In the competition, FHS participants competed against Crawford. By the competition’s end, there was at least one person from each A and B team from Grade 8 to 12 that would earn themselves notable achievements for each speech performed.
A big congratulations to all the public speakers!
