Lottering Brothers Shine, Madoda Claims Man of the Match

The Fourways High School 1st XI cricket team took on the Northcliff High School’s 3rd team. The fact that the Fourways High School 1st team played against Northcliff’s 3rd team shouldn’t diminish the win; rather, it should be seen as a confidence-booster for this exciting team. Fourways High School batted first and scored 227/4 off 20 overs, while Northcliff were bowled out for 61.

The stand-outs of the day were Ethan Fish, who scored 34 off 29 balls, and Ben Lottering, who delivered a strong performance with 77 off 55 balls. Ben’s younger brother, James Lottering, also contributed significantly, scoring 47 off 36 balls.

Siya Madoda took a hat-trick (3 wickets in 3 balls) and finished with impressive figures of 5 wickets for 8 runs in 3.1 overs, earning him the Man-of-the-Match award.

I had the chance to speak with Siya after the game about his excellent performance. When asked about Fourways’ third win in a row and how he felt about his own amazing performance, he said, “I felt really good; it was super emotional. It was a great day, especially after being out due to injury and personal issues last season.”

Regarding the Man-of-the-Match award, Siya said, “Playing for the school cricket first team was cool, and I’m super grateful I was able to benefit the team in the end.”

When asked about the key to continued improvement after a strong performance, Siya said, “Just keeping the ball where my captain wants me to, implementing the game-plan, and executing it well.”

We are all proud of our boys and will continue to encourage them.
