If ever there’s a good time to strip down in public, it is at the Hollard Daredevil Run! What started with one brave soul running through peak hour traffic in a speedo to raise awareness of prostate cancer, has become a nationwide phenomenon.
According to CANSA, prostate cancer is the most common cancer in South Africa. One in six men are diagnosed with the disease, and it does not discriminate – it affects men of all ages, races and sizes.
It takes guts to run 5km wearing not just a speedo … but a purple one. On October 13th 2023 Fourways High School participated in the Hollard Daredevil Run of 2023 to raise awareness about prostate and testicular cancer.
Although only 14 out of about 500 boys and three teachers participated, it was a great and event and I speak for everyone when I say running around Johannesburg in public in a purple speedo was worth it!
And so I urge you to support more men suffering from prostate cancer by participating in the 2024 Hollard Daredevil Run. Hope to see more of the boys “wearing the purple” this year!
