It’s that time of the year again. The crisp winter season has made an early approach into our atmosphere and anxiety is high all around. June controlled tests are officially underway. The stress and intensity that this portion of the year brings may also come along with some confusion. When should I start studying? Which subject should I start studying first? How should I even go about studying? Well, thank goodness you’re reading this because here are some ways to achieve that academic comeback that you promised your parents:
- Start your revision early
Give yourself enough time, well in advance, to study all that is necessary as this will limit the cramming of work. You’ll be able to see what you do and do not understand so that you are even able to go and ask for help. Procrastination and last minute cramming are a recipe for disaster and will just increase the amount of pressure and anxiety that you may already be feeling.
- Stay organised
Decide how much time you’ll need to spend on each subject as well as how much time you’ll be studying each day. Plan your revision timetable in such a way that your time is used productively and to its best ability. Being organised during exams will limit feeling overwhelmed as everything will receive equal amount of your attention and dedication.
- Take care of yourself
A healthy body will result in a healthy mind. It is of grave importance that you eat actual food and not just survive on Bioplus and Redbull! You will work and retain information better once you eat healthy food and get enough sleep as it will increase your overall concentration.
- Change up your revision techniques
If you’ve found a revision technique that brings you success, that’s really amazing. But sometimes a redundant revision technique can bring about boredom and won’t challenge you. Sometimes you need to spice it up and try different techniques to avoid boredom and to challenge yourself. When you try to revise differently than normal you will be able to identify which subjects you’re weakest or strongest in.
Good luck to everybody and happy studying!
