Between Friday the 3rd and Saturday the 4th of July, Fourways Legends competed at the South African Majorettes and Cheerleading association Nationals Competition at Centurion Matsport centre in Centurion.
Fourways Legends competed over two days in the category of High level 3 co-ed, where they placed 4th in the whole country. This shows the extreme and utter commitment, discipline and skill that our cheerleader’s, coach and TIC’s have, and for this Fourways High school is extremely proud of you.
This was the very first time that our cheer team made it to nationals, considering that the sport was only introduced 3 years ago, and is still new to our school. After a week of rigorous training and a whole season of routines, practices, full-outs and conditioning the team earned a respectable 4th place position out of the 11 teams who competed from all over South Africa thus, showing the country that when Fourways students’ bind together, we are truly a force to be reckoned with.
This is an amazing feat for our pupils, as it’s not everyday that a sports team at Fourways High competes at a national level, to show their gratitude, Suzuki Fourways donated kits to the whole team, each kit consisting of: a sports bag, a sweat towel, and a water bottle each of these items have the name of each individual and for this, the whole team is extremely grateful for all the support the school has given.
A special thanks goes out to the team’s coach, Angelique Hussey, and the TIC’s for the sport Mrs. Ludick and Ms. Herrer who helped organise and choregraph our routines, practices and all the admin that goes behind competing in the competitions. Thank you all for your tireless efforts that you have put into the sport this season. We as a team would not be here without your guidance and support.
And with Nationals over, the 2026 Cheerleading season has come to an end. Pre-season officially starts in term 3 and trials for the 2027 Cheerleading season will be announced. Congratulations for an incredible season and we wish you all the best for the upcoming season.
