Starting high school can be both exciting and daunting, especially for Grade 8 learners entering a completely new environment. On their first day, many experienced a mix of emotions as they adjusted to new classes, teachers, and expectations.
Thoriso Makgama shared a positive perspective on beginning high school. “I like this school. It’s nice,” he said. Thoriso mentioned that his teachers are kind and expressed excitement for both learning and participating in extra-curricular activities.
Another Grade 8 learner, Bethany Foord, spoke honestly about the challenges she faced on her first day. “I’m really scared,” she admitted. She explained that finding her classes can be difficult at times, but asking other learners for help makes it easier. “It’s easy, but also difficult to find my class, but I really like it,” she added.
Despite the stress and confusion that often comes with starting high school, the Grade 8’s are settling in well. Their teachers are supportive, and their classmates are welcoming, helping them adjust to this exciting new chapter of their school journey.
