Fourways Legends hockey girls showed incredible resilience in their Derby match against Hoërskool President on 15 March 2025. Kelly Plunkett scored four goals, with Melissa Ferguson scoring one goal and Emily Milne contributing another.
Talking to Kelly Plunkett about being captain and her performance, she said, “For the past four years in the first team hockey, my main goal was to become first team captain, and today it feels so surreal.” Kelly spoke about her experience on the pitch, expressing that upon stepping onto the field, she felt responsible for playing her best and inspiring her teammates. She spoke about being so grateful for the opportunity to lead the team to victory.
I was given the chance to catch up with Jocelyn Meyer about first 1st team game. Speaking about her first game, she said, “It was such a fun and exciting experience.” She said her progress as a player still surprises her, and she can’t believe she has played for the first team, as she is just happy she played for the first team, considering how essential that call-up was for her.
This game brought a lot of hope and excitement among our hockey girls, building them up for the new hockey season.
