Interview: Ms C le Roux

Describe yourself in one word
Youthful

What is your biggest pet peeve?
I am a very indecisive person so making choices and I absolutely hate to struggle.

Why are you memorable?
I think I am memorable because I am relatable. Although I am here as a teacher to provide a good solid education I would like to make an impact on learners personal lives and help them or even guide them to success.

What is something you do out of school, that a few people know?
I share a lot with the people close to me or around me as I am an extrovert but I have two dogs, a cat, a tarantula as well as a bearded dragon. I started jogging for fun and completed a 5km and a 10km race. I am the best Auntie over weekends and I love to binge watching series.

Why did you choose teaching?
I want to make a difference, most teachers have that answer but I have a passion for school sports as well as children. I want to make my learners in my classroom at all times feel loved and cared for and hopefully make in impact, even in the smallest of ways, in their life’s like my teachers did in mine.

Something interesting about yourself?
I was an Athlete when I was in high school and obtained my provincial colours in Long Jump and Tripple jump.

What do you like the least about teaching?
In general I love teaching and I am really passionate about it. The thing I like the least is disrespectful learners.

What something you would like to change about yourself?
We all want to change small aspects of our appearance but if I really have to sit and think, I would not change anything. I am who I am and all my personality traits make me who I am. I am proud of the person I am today and thankful for past experiences that made me who I am.

What animal would you be and why?
I would be an elephant for the following reasons:
They are one of the largest land mammals but they are such gentle giants.
They have a deep family bond and I feel family is important.
They are highly sensitive animals and very caring.

What genre of music do you listen to?
I love to listen to Afrikaans Pop music as well as English pop music. I listen to music that gives me a message or talks to my soul or beats to the rhythm of my heart.

Worst experience?
COVID was one of the worst for me.
My parents just moved away to George and my niece was born and I was isolated from them. Being and extrovert and being isolated in one place was terrible.

Best experience?
To see all my hard work pay off at the end.
Studying part time and working full time was a challenge but receiving my degree after all the blood, sweat and tears makes it one for the books.
