Pienaar Shines in Legendary Performance

Fourways High School faced Heronbridge in a cricket match on February 1st, 2025. Once again, Fourways High School displayed an excellent performance, winning by 122 runs, with Craig Pienaar delivering an outstanding individual showing.

Craig Pienaar’s performance against Heronbridge was exceptional, as he secured a historic 171 runs off 133 balls, becoming the first player in Fourways High School’s history to achieve this milestone.

Speaking about his innings, Craig said, “I am quite happy with the job I was able to do today, as I was able to put the team in a very good position to win the game.” He added, “Leading by example – if I am ready for the game, I make sure everyone is ready, so I can maintain that good example.”

The game against Heronbridge was also a proud moment for Pienaar, as it marked his first 50-over game of the season. When asked about it, he said, “I feel good that we were able to post a good total; I am very happy about this performance today.”

I had the pleasure of speaking to one of Craig’s teammates, Siyabulela Madoda, about Craig’s performance.

He said, “I was very proud of Craig; the way he led from the front was inspiring.” When talking to his other teammate, Ben Lottering, he said, “I am really proud of him. He put on a stellar performance that undoubtedly secured us the game – a strong performance to start the year, so hopefully we can keep this momentum up throughout this season.”

This win was huge. There were, of course, other outstanding players too. Seleka Tau once again displayed a stellar performance by scoring 58 runs off 52 balls. Talking to Seleka about another great performance and what he did better, he said, “I think this performance was different because it really put my mental fitness to the test. It’s required for the top order to bat for longer, and as a cricketer, I struggled with that, but this Saturday my mental fitness was better, and I was able to apply it a lot better.”

Asking Seleka about his future in cricket after high school, he said, “I have a real love for sports, and I will be really happy to play cricket professionally.”

The boys played well, and the school is proud of you. Keep pushing; we go on to the next game. Well done, boys; keep it up.
