Political Apathy in Young People

Lately the number of youth members involved in political activities has decreased, whether that be the participation of the youth in voting or the representation of the youth in the political establishment. Young people seem to have lost interest.

Here are just some of the causes influencing the youths’ interest in politics:

Lack of representation: Most of the political participants are over the age of 34. This results in many young people feeling like their voices are not being heard or valued by the political establishment.

Scarcity of information: Most young people aren’t given access, accurate and reliable information. This leads to young people having misconceptions about the political establishment creating political apathy.

Hopefully young people will get a caution alert and realise that they are the future of tomorrow. Let’s introduce change over stability by gaining interest, thriving for education, becoming the representation and change to constant news of honour and decency.
