The Rise of African Entertainment

There are many stories in Africa, both told and untold. All these stories have their own uniqueness, caused by the diversity of the continent.

Western culture has a significant influence on global media entertainment, as shown by the storytelling techniques and styles of production of the mainstream media worldwide. This is because of technological advancements in western nations.

On the contrary, African culture faces many obstacles in achieving widespread recognition in the entertainment media compared to western culture, possibly due to limited resources or stereotypical views.

However, during the last decade, the inclusion of African culture in the entertainment industry has increased. Production companies have set aside financial resources and more to ensure proper quality and distribution of African cultural content.

This is proven by the production along with the positive feedback from the media to productions such as: “Black Panther (2018)“, “The Women King (2022)“ and “Shaka Ilembe (2023)”.
