Through the Lens

Photography has given me the means to give back to Fourways High School in a way that feels uniquely mine. As the 2026 Photography Captain, I have had the privilege of capturing the moments that make up our school day — the big celebrations, the achievements, the laughter, and all the little moments in between that might otherwise go unnoticed.

Being part of the Photography Team has taught me far more than how to use a camera. It has taught me to look at the world differently. I have learnt to think creatively, to notice details, and most importantly, to find beauty in the mundane. A simple conversation in a corridor, sunlight falling across a classroom, a nervous smile before an event or the chaos of a sports day can become a moment worth remembering when seen through the right lens.

Photography has allowed me to give the school community an eye into moments they may not have experienced themselves. Every photograph becomes a small piece of our school’s story — preserving memories for learners, teachers and families long after the moment has passed.

As I look back on my final year, I am proud to know that I have not only developed my skills as a photographer but have also learnt to see the world with greater curiosity and appreciation. Through my camera, I have been able to tell the story of Fourways High School — one ordinary, extraordinary moment at a time.
